From Brooklyn with Blues

Featuring joey on guitar/vocals and various excellent bass players and drummers 19 or 20 songs a double-album featuring the rock and roll of joey racano, recorded both live and in studio, 1983-1994

The photo was taken on the streets of Berkeley, 1990

5th Street Alley

Recorded 1994 in Huntington Beach at Anomaly Studio, featuring Joey Racano on guitar/bass and vocals special guest- 'spike' the crow (on 'woodstock')

Pier Plaza LIVE!

Recorded 1998 at the grand opening of Pier Plaza, at the Huntington Beach Pier- all acoustic, recorded right off the board of Juice Newton's sound system. Solo acoustic.

Barnstorming

Barnstorming is a CD of a solo acoustic performance I did which was recorded off-the-board at 'The Barn' in Tustin, California, late 1990's. The guitar was a vintage 'Harmony' with a soundhole pickup. So mellow! Includes my version of 'God Bless the child' by Billie Holiday as well as a set of my own originals. Engineered by Gary Geiser, my sometimes bass player. It's short but a sweet CD.

    Wild Bird

Recorded in Huntington beach, California by Marco Forconi, Wild Bird was done on a DD8 and mastered using 'Pro Tools'. This CD is the first one I did as a full-on studio-produced project in the 'digital' age. The players on the record are some of the best musicians in the field, Dave Blazer on trumpet, Brad Cummings on bass- Brad was nominated for a 'Best Bass Player' award at the 1998 LA music awards. The harmonica was done by River Blue of the Steve Copeland band. All vocals and guitars were done by me. The rhythms were acoustic, the drums were ably programed by Marco and myself, which itself took two weeks!

Good record- play it loud, baby!

       Bluejay

Bluejay is my best selling CD. After touring for my Wild Bird CD (named for the famous Big Sur home of activist Margaret Wentworth Oweings), I read a record review in Orange County Weekly by the late, great musician/critic Buddy 'Blue' Seigal, calling that record overproduced; he hated the layered vocals and such. I didn't feel that was fair because i never really had quality control; that was the producer (Reynaldo Macias jr) and engineer (Marco Forconi). So, in 2001, I stepped back into Marco's '1605' studios and this time, sat in the middle of the room on a stool and played with no accompaniment, no effects, no overdubs - and only recorded on the full moon for four trips into the studio. No over-production would be possible! If I made a mistake, I started from scratch at the beginning of the song. Most of the stuff was done on a single take (as was 'Fabric of Society'- the only acoustic song on Wild Bird). I think this was my defining album.
